Owners Nancy and David Orr and Manager Amin Lopez are available during your stay to share their knowledge of Mayan history and culture, holidays and festivals and San Cristobal's many attractions.
There are also a number of options for tours of the surrounding area, which can be arranged on our premises.
Surrounding the classic front courtyard with its beautiful plantings, the common area includes a handsome living room, dining room, and den, each with fireplace. Two double bedrooms are also accessed from this courtyard. Enter back courtyard to three additional bedrooms.
A wonderful cook is an integral part of the house and serves breakfasts to order. Guests have their choice of eating in the dining room or outside in either of the flower-filled courtyards. A full self-service bar is also provided.
For special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or honeymoons, etc., arrangements can be made for special cakes as well as live mariachi or marimba music.
Also, from time to time, artists, anthropologists, archaeologists, etc. are invited to Casa Felipe Flores for interesting conversation.
San Cristobal de Las Casas is one of the oldest Spanish settlements in Mexico. Founded in 1528, it is characterized by churches, museums, warm-colored houses with red-tiled roofs, and a beautiful zocalo.
Mayan descendants in their native dress are an integral part of the cultural life of the city.
Surrounded by forested hills, San Cristobal lies in the Jovel Valley. The town's altitude is 7200 feet, and daily temperatures range from 70-80 F/22-27c. San Cristobal feels much smaller in population than it is.
Everything is within walking distance of Casa Felipe Flores although moderately priced taxi service is also available.
Chiapas is the southeastern most state of Mexico, and, until the 1800s, was part of Guatemala.
Mayan influence is evident everywhere from Indian markets and holiday celebrations to several of the most important ruin sites in all of Mexico.
Most major international airlines fly from the United States and Europe to Mexico City and/or Cancun.
Connecting flights - several each day on either Mexicana, Aviacsa or Aero Caribe (DC9s) - take you to Tuxtla Gutierrez, the state capital of Chiapas.
Transport from there to San Cristobal de Las Casas by taxi, first class bus or car rental is available at the airport, or arrangements may be made for pick-up service.
Some visitors arrive by car after visiting Palenque, Oaxaca, Villamosa, or other parts of Mexico.
